Emiliano Ponzi
Based in Milan, internationally acclaimed illustrator Emiliano Ponzi collaborates with major clients and magazines, including The New York Times and The New Yorker, in Italy and abroad. His bold textured illustrations—visual metaphors that convey strong messages—employ repetition, a judicious use of line, and strong graphic compositions to define and communicate the concept at hand.
Emiliano has received numerous honors including the Young Guns Award from the New York Art Directors Club and the coveted Gold Cube from The Art Directors Club of New York. He has won multiple medals of honor from the New York and LA Society of Illustrators. Awards of excellence have appeared in Print, How International Design Award, Communication Arts Illustration Annuals and American Illustration Annuals. His first picture book, The Journey of the Penguin, was published in Fall 2015 by Penguin Books for its 80th anniversary. His most recent book, The Great New York Subway Map (MoMA, 2018), tells the fascinating story of the map’s creation in 1972 by the great Italian designer Massimo Vignelli and his team.
