Susumu Fujimoto

Susumu Fujimoto was born in Hirado and raised in Kyoto, Japan. After working as a graphic designer, packaging designer, and illustrator for communication and design agencies, in 1986 he founded Go’s Design, and in 1988 the accessory label and boutique, Aiken Drum.
His illustrations stand out for their retro allure, graphic beauty, and endearing characters. His illustrations were selected in the 2011 edition of the Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrators' Exhibition.
He has illustrated picture books, including Si J’Étais une Souris by Mariapaola Pesce (Grasset, 2018), Le Panier À Pique-Nique by Gabriele Rebagliati (Grasset, 2015), Il Principe della Paglia (Franco Cosimo Panini, 2017), Message to the Future by Mineko Koyama (Michitani, 2016), Let’s Eat Together, by Uchida Kyoko (Kodansha, 2011), The Postman’s Tale by Karel Capek (Felissimo, 2008), Angela’s Wish by Mineko Koyama (Kyouikugageki, 2008).
