Miguel Tanco

Miguel Tanco’s poetic and tender stories, with their unforgettable and irresistible characters, speak to readers of all ages. After studying illustration at the School of Visual Arts of New York, Miguel turned his passion for picture books into a career. He has published more than forty books including My Best Friend (Tundra 2022), Toutes petites histoires (Grasset, 2021), Mr Tiger written by Davide Calì (Tate, 2021) Count on Me (Tundra, 2019), Great Dog written by Davide Calì (Tundra, 2018), You and Me, Me and You (Chronicle Books, 2017), Les Farfelus (Les Fourmis Rouges, 2015).
He has received a number of awards including a Bologna Book Fair Mention in 2010 and 2012, and an AOI Mention of Illustration in 2016. His work was selected for Ilustrarte Biennial 2016 and 2018, and for the New York Society of Illustrators 59 Annual and Exhibition in 2017.
Alongside his work as an author and illustrator, Miguel teaches illustration and leads creative workshops for children and adolescents in Italy and in Spain, where he was born and raised. He lives in Milan with his wife Federica and their two sons, Pablo and Javier.
